Medical ministry in Tiruchirappalli began in the early twentieth century, with inpatient care developing by 1912. This ministry eventually became associated with the CSI Mission General Hospital, Uraiyur.

In the Dharapuram region, medical work also developed through missionary initiatives. Rural healthcare was taken directly to communities, and a hospital with inpatient facilities was established in 1933.

The present-day hospital ministry of the Diocese carries this tradition forward through institutions including the CSI Mission General Hospital, Uraiyur, Tiruchirappalli, and the CSI Dr. Anne Booth Mission Hospital, Dharapuram.
