Key Activities & Initiatives
The year in the ministry
The Education Committee is committed to strengthening the quality, capacity, and effectiveness of diocesan educational institutions through academic initiatives, teacher development, institutional review, and effective leadership engagement.
The Committee regularly convenes review and consultative meetings with school administrators, teachers, and educational experts to assess institutional challenges, student enrolment, academic performance—particularly in Board Examinations—and opportunities for continuous improvement. These consultations provide a platform for identifying needs, sharing best practices, and developing appropriate strategies to enhance the overall quality of education.
Further review meetings held in 2026 focused on strengthening school infrastructure, welcoming and supporting new students, introducing Bridge Courses in reading, writing, and numeracy, and ensuring adequate sanitation and safe drinking-water facilities. In collaboration with the Department of Social Concerns, the Committee has facilitated the appointment of Student Counsellors to support the well-being and holistic development of students.
Continuous attention is also given to improving infrastructure and educational quality, along with specialised preparation for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE. These initiatives reflect a holistic and future-oriented approach to school education, seeking to equip students not only for academic success but also for responsible and purposeful participation in society.
Through these sustained efforts, the Education Committee seeks to build educational institutions that are academically strong, student-centred, inclusive, and responsive to the changing needs of society. By investing in teachers, infrastructure, student well-being, and future-oriented learning opportunities, the Committee endeavours to ensure that every child receives the support and opportunities needed to discover their potential and pursue a meaningful and successful future.
