Pastoral & Ordination Committee

The Pastoral & Ordination Committee is committed to nurturing pastoral formation, providing continuing ministerial accompaniment, and preparing spiritually grounded, pastorally competent, and mission-oriented leaders for ordained ministry across the Diocese.

The year witnessed the ordination of new ministers as Presbyters and Deacons, marking an important milestone in the Diocese’s continuing commitment to preparing ministers for faithful and effective service. The Committee supported the formation of ordinands and those engaged in pastoral ministry through structured study programmes, retreats, spiritual gatherings, and opportunities for reflection and fellowship.

A Junior Ministry Study Programme and a dedicated retreat for ordinands provided valuable opportunities for theological reflection, spiritual renewal, and deeper preparation for the responsibilities of ordained ministry. In-service training programmes were also organised for women workers, missionaries, pastors, and evangelists, enabling them to renew their spiritual commitment, strengthen their ministry skills, and respond more effectively to the changing needs of the communities they serve.

Recognising the importance of strengthening pastoral care within families and congregations, a Pre-Marital Counsellors’ Workshop brought together presbyters from all eight DCCs to enhance their skills in Christ-centred marriage preparation and pastoral counselling. Confirmation services are coordinated in consultation with local presbyteries, facilitating systematic preparation, spiritual guidance, and pastoral accompaniment of candidates.

The Committee also promotes wider ministerial and ecumenical learning through initiatives such as the Leicester Link and the PAD gatherings, which provide opportunities for ministers to engage in shared learning, reflection, fellowship, and mutual enrichment. A significant PAD programme was facilitated in Puducherry in June 2026, further contributing to ministerial development and fellowship.
